Pastor Robert Bass, an author of Hidden Fruits, talks about the love and gifts of the Holy Spirit to live out our best life as God intended for us. His book reflects Biblical passage:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5: 22-26 ESV.
The Holy Spirit gives us that peace, love, and joy that we all long for when we submit to God.
Even in times of suffering, we can still experience peace, love, and joy, the fruits of the spirit.
Pastor Bass brings up good points that we all need encouragement, especially from parents encouraging their children. Thus, his book, the Hidden Fruit, is written from a father's perspective, writing his son a letter of love and encouragement.
Love is not always exhibiting emotional love for people, but it's more of sacrificial love to make a conscious choice to love others even when you don't feel like it. Despite what others do to you, you can still choose to love and want the best for them.
